Giving Back to the Community
Being involved in the local Newport County community is embedded into A1’s mission. It is a huge part of what drives the team to continuously improve and evolve, allowing us to contribute more time, energy & resources into community projects and organizations. Most recently, we are proud to highlight the groundbreaking partnership formed with Fab Newport and their Rhode Island First Tee Chapter.
Middletown, RI (March 1, 2024): FabNewport has opened Rhode Island’s First Tee Youth Learning and STEM Center at A1 Roofing & Construction on West Main Road in Middletown. The donated facility at A1’s headquarters includes a golf studio and two launch monitors for practice and simulated play.
FabNewport was awarded the Chapter due to the vision and commitment of First Tee – Rhode Island’s Director of Programming, Orlando Peace. Peace joined the FabNewport team in 2021 and launched FabGolf as an extension of FabNewport’s slate of experiential learning offerings. Peace developed FabGolf as a way to introduce the game to dozens of Aquidneck Island youth with a year-round slate of coaching, competition, and career exploration; activities that build character, instill life enhancing values and promote healthy choices.
“I can’t think of a better organization that has a direct and immediate impact on the youth of Aquidneck Island and has the ability to influence their positive future and vision,” stated
Sean Napolitano, Owner of A1 Roofing and Construction. “Orlando’s commitment to youth and his passion for the game and what it can do to change lives is inspirational,” Napolitano added.
“The First Tee Learning and STEM Center is made possible due to the generous donation of space by A1 Roofing and Construction who have been supporters of FabNewport’s golf program since its inception donating a van, financial support, and the golf simulator, “ stated Steve Heath, FabNewport’s Executive Director. “Orlando Peace’s three-year success with FabGolf set up the foundation for FabNewport to be awarded Rhode Island’s First Tee Chapter,” Heath further offered.
First Tee – Rhode Island programming will offer golf skills training at the First Tee Learning and STEM Center featuring two golf simulators beginning March 15th. Outdoor programming including Family Days will take place at Green Valley Country Club, Portsmouth beginning April 15th and will serve Aquidneck Island youth of all ages and abilities. Information on how to register and program details are available at firstteerhodeisland.org.
