The National Association of Realtors® (NAR) recently released its 2019 Remodeling Impact Report, a joint study with the National Association of the Remodeling Industry (NARI). It covered reasons for remodeling and how much satisfaction homeowners get once their project has been completed.
In this report, the organization discovered that new roofs make homeowners happy.
New Roofs Make Homeowners Happy
More than half of the respondents replaced their old roofs to upgrade worn-out surfaces, finishes and materials while 15% wanted to refresh the look of their homes.
Most participants felt like this was a worthy project with 65% wanting to stay in their homes more since getting their new roofs. Moreover, 49% say they now enjoy being at home more. Replacing old roofing systems has an almost perfect joy score of 9.5 out of 10.
How Improving Your Home Affects You
Starting a home improvement project is therapeutic and can improve your mood. There is evidence that proves beginning a project can lift your spirits and reduce anxiety related to procrastination. It boosts your mood so dramatically that it can aid in reducing remodeling stress.
Replacing your old roof and improving other parts of your home can make you feel positive about where you live. You’ll feel a sense of accomplishment once you see your new roof even if contractors took care of the installation. With an upgraded, more durable roof, you’ll have peace of mind knowing that your home and family stay protected from harsh elements and weather.
